Recovery, Challenges

October surprise #2

I’m excited to share the news about the clinical trial I have been selected for involving Spaulding rehab and Mass General Hospital. I’ll be busy over the next seven months getting injections and a spinal tap every few weeks.

I feel like Charlie in Willy Wonka‘s chocolate factory. I have been selected to participate in a phase 2 clinical trial for a drug that regrows injured spinal cord nerves. The selection criteria is so narrow and as you can imagine many spinal cord survivors are interested and excited about this new drug.

Join me as I Chronicle this journey!! It is a double blind study so the odds are 50-50 between the drug and the placebo. Either way I’m happy to help the research and hope this can one day help millions of spinal cord injury survivors.

by the way I am a C3/C4 with central cord syndrome. I am paralyzed from the neck down but I do have movement and sensation from head to toe.
