The summer started with a work reunion with the crew at equipe communications and met up in Merrimack Mass on Lake Attitash at Coreys house. After 20 years it’s amazing to see people get together to talk about the fun we had back in the day and catch up on current life events. I found out quickly the group has not lost their taste for high-end tequila 😎
We mixed in a few day trips to Newburyport and then headed to Stratham for a college fraternity reunion. It has been nearly 30 years since I had seen some of the brothers and it’s funny how the years go by but we changed very little. I’m so grateful to their kindness and generosity for supporting me throughout my recovery.
We were fortunate to be able to add a new member to my recovery team. Meet Veronica!! She is a rockstar: the complete package. A 2nd year grad student at UNH getting her masters degree in speech language pathology. She comes by during the week for a couple of hours to help with my feeding, help organize the house and most importantly she is my life coach for my new exercise regiment and executive producer of a new series we will be launching.
My exercise regimen includes 60 crunches a day which you can see in the video posted here. 30 of these I do holding handles attached to the wall for stability and the remaining 30 I do with no assistance. It’s a lot of work but I made a commitment to the Joe Sharron Challenge relative to the size of my quad belly and I am not giving up.
Veronica and I went to southie in Boston for a film night at Pleasure Bay put on by Jean Dunoyer and the Masskiting crew. I got to catch up with my kiteboarding friends I have not seen in a long time and it was a spectacular night. I was so happy to see everyone and I’m humbled by their kindness.
The beginning of August we met up with my 84-year-old aunt at the Armenian festival in Chelmsford Mass. She had been asking us to get together so we can see her dancing to the classic Armenian music which is put on by a really good band. Michelle and I enjoyed the music and it was great to see my aunt Dottie ripping it up on the dance floor.
It was a beautiful day and just as we were leaving Michelle spotted my cousin Ed and his wife Tara walking past the dance floor. She ran over and gave him a big hug which probably startled him given it’s been a few years since we have seen him. It was great catching up and hearing about his life‘s adventure.
The end of the summer featured our first vacation since my accident. My immediate family rented a house near Mount Snow Vermont where we spent four nights and five days. The company was fabulous, which included our good friend Gabby, and we could not have asked for better weather or a more picturesque setting.
This past week was a big week recovery wise. It had been a year since my last steps with a walker. We have worked so hard over these past 12 months to condition my body to be able to walk again without the risk of me not being able to breathe. The good news is we took 10 steps which does not sound like much but it is a start and certainly a move in the right direction. I’m so thankful to my physical therapy team for not giving up on me.
In the coming weeks I will be launching the series I referenced above and I will be making a big announcement regarding a step in my recovery involving Spaulding rehabilitation Hospital and Mass General Hospital.
Wishing you all the best of health and I look forward to seeing more people in the near future. ❤️❤️❤️
