There are several obstacles that I’m not comfortable with. First, I need to convince Valerie that there is a value in this method rather than setting camp with the car and riding loops from that point, not that there is anything wrong with that either, it’s different. Second, ticks and EEE carrying mosquitoes scare the bejesus out of me, especially for Elliott, and they are very prevalent in New England, especially off the bitten path. Third, I can’t do it on paved roads for safety reasons and gravel roads are a hike from home, we are talking Vermont, NH and Maine. Finally, we must find the time for it and not having local gravel roads will force us to travel, which is problematic when time is limited in the first place. So, we’ll see what happens with that idea; maybe we will just try backpacking loops to start with, add sleepover loops later then hopefully evolve to bikepacking within a few years.
